One in 10 computers vulnerable to attack
Cybercriminals are increasingly focussing on money, a new report suggests, and improved organisation means that “toolkits” have been developed to methodically infect PCs so that illegally obtained information can be bought and sold. In a survey by security firm AVG, 165 internet domains were found to have attacked 12 million visitors over the course of two months. More than 1.2 million computers were subsequently infected. Google phasing out YouTube accounts
Google, which bought YouTube for $1.65 billion in 2006, said the move to Google account logins would optional at first, but would later become mandatory. Facebook connects to Microsoft Office
Microsoft Outlook will now integrate with Facebook, MSN Messenger, MySpace and LinkedIn, giving users access to a social version of email. The move aims to put Outlook, Microsoft’s premium email product, on a par with its web-based rivals, including Microsoft’s own Hotmail, Yahoo Mail and Gmail, which already include chat capabilities. Twitter search ‘fast growing’
Talking at the Aspen Ideas Festival, Stone revealed the statistic – which means Twitter’s search engine is serving more than 24 billion searches per month compared to Bing’s approximate 4.1 billion and Yahoo!’s approximate 9.4 billion combined. Facebook addiction on the rise
Young women are becoming increasingly addicted and dependent upon social networks according to a study conducted by Oxygen Media and Lightspeed Research.
